Mechanical vibration of a machine is the first thing that increases whenever a damage or deterioration starts affecting the working of a machinery. Even Though there are many Nondestructive Testing methods (NDT) to identify the damages in machines, increase in vibration is the earliest indicator of damages in machines.
What is vibration analysis?
Vibration analysis is the most effective method in Non Destructive testing to maintain industrial equipment. Vibration analysis is done by analysing the vibration signature of a machine which is under load.
The parameters measured from the spectrum are velocity, displacement and acceleration.
This method requires the measurement of two quantities
- The magnitude of vibration
- The frequency spectrum
The magnitude measurement is used to estimate the severity of vibration. The frequency content in spectrum is used for identifying the origin of vibration.
